Requiered listening

What we had to for this was that we had to listen to music from the 50's, 60's, & 70's but each song was a different type of situation some of them was when the British invasion was happening an other decade was the misunderstood decade. For each decade we had to choose three songs that stood out to us and right about it.

From the 1950's the three songs that I choose were "Only you" by The Platters, "Heart break hotel" by Elvis Presley, & "bye bye love" by The Everly brothers. The reason that these songs stood out to me was because they all seem to be talking about women and in heart break hotel and bye bye love they are talking about how some girl had left them for some other guy and how they see there girl all happy and stuff and the only you is also talking about some women and how she is the love of his life and that she is the right person for him and some how I can connect this to the real life because I mean everyday you meet people and sometimes you fall in love with them but when you meet some one else that attracts you well you are going to go meet the other girl or guy and then you leave the guy that you were going out with for the guy you meet and in other cases you find the love of your life and you say how she is the right person for you.

The songs that I choose from the 1960's folk/ folk rock were

Peter, Paul & Mary "where have the flowers gone"

The reason that I choose this song was because what really stood out to me was that they are talking about how everything is nice and beautiful is gone because all the girls have there husbands now and stuff like that.

Barry Mc Guire "eve of destruction" was my second song I choose because the part that i liked about this song was that there was a part in were I think he had said that your not ready for war but once you are told about it you are and I mean in my opinion nobody is ready to go to war even if you are told about it. I didn't choose a third one because none of the other songs stood out.
In the 19060's British invasion the songs that I choose were

The Who "generation" I really enjoyed this song because I mean when i heard it they are talking about how people are talking about there generation and how they want to die before they get old. I compared this song to now a days because were ever you turn they are talking about how this generation is bad because all the teenagers are doing things that they shouldn't be doing and teenagers on the other hand are like well you shouldn't say things about our generation because we like it that way and things like that.

The Beatles "I saw her standing there" I choose this song because its talking about how this guy has seen this good looking person at a party and when he sees her he stops dancing with the other girl and goes over to her and they dance and that girl doesn't want to dance with any body else, so i found it pretty funny the fact that he ditched the other person just to go dance with the other girl

1960's Psychedelic Rock

The rolling stones "Paint Black" I choose this song because it is talking about how everything is black for this person and when he sees his inside he sees everything black and he wants everything black. I think they are talking about some ones way of thinking about them selves because they have a low self esteem

California dreamin by The mamas & The papas. The reason that I choose this was because i think they were talking about how they were home sick because there was a point were they had mentioned that in L.A it would be better and I mean u could some what connect it to the immigration thingy because some of them say that it would be better were they were born at but they came here because they wanted the california dream
"Get together" by The young bloods the reason that I choose this was becasue it is talking about how we should try to love our brothers and sisters and I agree to this because even though we have some differences we should all try to love each other so that there could be a little bit of piece.
1970's- Misunderstood decade
"Whipping post" by Allman brothers band. I choose this song because it kind of goes back to the songs that I choose for the 50's because this guy is also talking about this women that had left him for his best friend and that there is no point of being alive so he should just die. I connected this to some of my friends from home because they had loved someone so much and when there girlfriend or boyfriend left them they felt like there was not point of living.
"Gimme Danger" by Iggy & the stooges this was pretty interesting because this guy is talking about how some one should show him some danger so that he can see what it feels like. I probably heard wrong but I think this song was pretty dumb because I mean who wants some one to give them danger just so that they could know what it feels like.
"Another brick in the wall" by Pink floyed I personally love this song because he is talking about how teachers are always bothering the kids and how they should leave them alone and how we kids don't need any education and I mean some kids do hate school so I could compare this to those students.

Hi Jessica!!!!
Hey I was reading what did posted on your blog for the listening part and I have to tell you that you did a good job in explaining why you were impress by the songs and also how you weren't impress at all. I don't know which year was it but you all like, I don't have a third song because none of the other songs impress me. I thought that was funny but overall you did good at it. Another thing that I really like was when you talk about the song by The Who something about generation. I have to say that I do agree with you about that we have a good and wild generation but I mean why would we want to have a boring one. I was confuse in the last part of this posted work because through my computer, I couldn't see anything when I scroll down. It was until it said leave a comment. I don't know if it is my computer or you posted the words wrong. Anyways good work!!! (Also did you have cited your images or not?) :)
